  • Rachel's own dietary restrictions have caused her to become knowledgeable about gluten-free cooking and creating inclusive menus.
  • Currently, she's obsessed with foraging and constantly learning how to identify edible mushrooms. (She even dreams about mushrooms regularly.)
  • She wrote blog posts about the benefits of vegan diets for The Hallelujah Diet.

Experience

After working in fine dining restaurants in New York City throughout her 20s while also teaching middle school full-time, she published her first book, a true crime/memoir called Catch the Sparrow, in 2022. She's a veteran public school teacher; a lifelong writer who's been published in — among others — the LA Times, the Washington Post, and the Huffington Post; and an aficionado of a well-balanced cocktail.

Education

She earned an MFA in Writing Poetry from The New School, an MA in English Education from Columbia University, and concentrated in Creative Writing during her undergrad time at Rutgers. More recently, she took an Ad Design and Copywriting class at SVA and knocked it out of the park!
