In 2024, she returned to graduate school to further develop her writing and editing, and crafted a 150 page short story collection. She's spent years developing her palate (and her writing style) through working in restaurants, traveling, experimenting at home, and voraciously reading cookbooks by chefs she admires, and food remains one of her favorite focal points and inspirations.
Education
Mikayla received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in English literature, with an emphasis on creative writing, from Sonoma State University. She went on to complete her Master of Fine Arts in writing at the University of Saskatchewan in 2026, where she is currently pursuing an adjacent master's degree in literature.
