Experience

Carlos is a Peruvian-American food writer who began writing about food for his middle school newspaper in 1996, educating his classmates about sushi, which was a very new trend in his hometown of Miami at the time. He went on to be the dining columnist for Florida International University's student newspaper, The Beacon, and the local dining editor for Joonbug Miami. He has also written for the Boston Globe, Food52, Food Network, Food.com, Saveur, Eater, the Infatuation, Fare, and Eating Well. He has also been a guest presenter at the Museum of Food and Drink and the Boston Public Market, has consulted on the Netflix series, "Street Food", and was the chief researcher and community liaison for MOFAD's guide to Haitian cuisine in Miami. He is passionate about the ever-evolving cuisine in his home state, Florida, and loves leading culinary tours of various immigrant communities in his state.

Education

Carlos has a master's degree in gastronomy from Boston University. He also has a bachelor's degree in sociology and anthropology from Florida International University.
