Review: Starbucks' New Peanuts Drinks Will Have You Saying 'Good Grief!'
If you've been on social media over the past several days, you've likely seen images of Starbucks' latest Peanuts merchandise. The oh-so-cute collection includes the Snoopy Glass Cold Cup, which has taken the internet by storm almost as much as 2025's viral Bearista Cup. I even went to my local Starbucks at an ungodly hour to secure one. Consider me influenced.
What customers may not have heard as much about, however, is the new drink lineup Starbucks quietly released alongside the merch drop. The surprise secret menu launch consists of two beverages: the Charlie Brown Mocha Frappuccino and the Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino. With so little coverage on these surprise menu additions, I had to head back to Starbucks (at a normal hour this time) to determine whether their arrival deserved just as much attention as the merch, or whether it was perhaps a good move that Starbucks kept it relatively quiet. Here's everything you need to know about the new Starbucks x Peanuts Frappuccinos.
Methodology
To conduct my taste test, I ordered each drink in the only available size — Grande — with no customizations. I also made sure to try each drink at my local Starbucks location to avoid as much melting down as possible. Having tried everything from the chain's berry-filled Valentine's launch to its latest new Fall 2026 menu items, I'm no newcomer when it comes to Starbucks drinks. As Food Republic's go-to Starbucks reviewer and a certified Gold member (meaning I visit perhaps a bit too frequently), I came into my taste test prepared to conduct a thorough and honest review of the new surprise launch.
The most important factors I considered during my taste test were flavor, presentation, and innovation. A drink was most successful when it possessed a bold yet balanced flavor that matched its description, looked as good as it tasted, and felt like it added something new to Starbucks' current menu.
Price and availability
The new Starbucks x Peanuts drinks launched on September 15 and will be available for a limited-time. Both Frappuccinos are only offered in a Grande size. The Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino is priced at $6.95 at my local Starbucks in New Jersey, while the Charlie Brown Mocha Frappuccino comes out to $7.95 (though prices may vary by location).
Taste test: Charlie Brown Mocha Frappuccino
The Charlie Brown Mocha Frappuccino combines two of my favorite flavors: pumpkin and chocolate. It consists of a Pumpkin Spice Crème Frappuccino with a Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam and a drizzle of Mocha Sauce both on top and around the cup. While the combination sounds simple enough, these two flavors aren't exactly a match made in heaven.
Prior to this taste test, I had never tried any food or beverage that combined both pumpkin and chocolate — and now I know why. Both flavors are strong in their own right and unfortunately felt like they were competing rather than complementing one another. The drink is unique to Starbucks' current menu but not overly innovative. It left me wondering whether this particular flavor combination has gone untouched for a reason.
If that wasn't bad enough, the drink I received felt totally disconnected from the one I had seen in Starbucks' promo imagery. Photos both on its app and online menu displayed carefully crafted drizzles of mocha sauce around the cup that seemed to emulate Charlie Brown's iconic sweater. Instead, my drink arrived with no mocha sauce lining the cup and a jumble of a drizzle on top. Couple the lackluster flavor profile and disappointing appearance with a whopping $7.95 price tag, and this drink was very easily a miss for the chain.
Taste test: Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino
The other half of Starbucks' latest launch was far more successful. The Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino takes a classic Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino and adds white mocha, a cookie crumble, and Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam for a fall twist. Just from reading the description alone, the combination of flavors already made more sense to me, and my first sip confirmed that. The vanilla, pumpkin, and white mocha work really well together, creating a sweeter, creamier showcasing of Starbucks' classic pumpkin flavor. The drink is definitely dessert-like with total milkshake vibes, so if you aren't prepared for a relatively big hit of sweetness, you may want to steer clear.
With all of that said though, I have to wonder whether the drink is worth its more premium price. The pumpkin flavor became most noticeable after I let the Frappuccino sit for a bit, allowing the Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam to melt and better incorporate into the drink. My first sip, however, tasted fairly similar to a standard Vanilla Bean Crème Frappe, which, at my local Starbucks, cost $5.45 ($1.50 less than the Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino). So while, yes, the Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino is good, is it a $1.50 upcharge good? If you ask me, it may be worth ordering just once for the novelty, especially if you're a big Peanuts fan — admittedly, drinking the rest from my Snoopy Glass Cold Cup did make it taste just that much sweeter — but isn't exactly memorable enough to become a fall staple.
Final thoughts
When it comes to the Starbucks x Peanuts collaboration, you may be better off spending your money on the merchandise. Neither of the two new drinks felt memorable enough to justify their cost. The Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino was good but not great, and don't even me get me started on the Charlie Brown Mocha Frappuccino — this drink would surely have Charlie Brown himself saying "Good Grief!" Pumpkin and chocolate just don't really go. I can't even say that the chain's new drink looked better than it tasted, as it lacked that iconic Charlie Brown branding I was hoping for. Instead, the drink was an overall letdown.
Still, the drinks do offer one somewhat unique selling point: Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam on a Frappuccino. Interestingly, it doesn't seem as though you can add Starbucks' Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam to just any drink — at least on the mobile app. I can't speak to whether a barista would accommodate the request in person, but if you've always wanted to try the seasonal topping atop the chain's most iconic blended drink, I suppose this gives you that opportunity. Otherwise, these two new drinks don't have much of a selling point.
Ultimately, the Peanuts branding is doing more of the work here than the drinks themselves. The merchandise may have been worth waking up at the wee hours of the morning to secure, but as for these Frappuccinos? They could've stayed on the secret menu.
