Ina Garten Cleverly Revealed The 2024 Release Date Of Her Memoir

Barefoot Contessa fans, rejoice! Ina Garten has announced the release date of her long-awaited memoir, but not with pomp and splendor, as you might expect. She quietly and discreetly published the news on her Instagram page. The word didn't even come in the form of an official post, but is hidden in her bio, which discreetly reads, "Memoir coming out October 1st 2024". News that she had started writing her memoir originally came out in 2019, with only a tentative release date for the final product, which ultimately came and went.

Publishing giant Celadon Books will be releasing Garten's story, and if it follows the pattern of her 13 successful cookbooks, it is likely to become a best-seller right out of the gate. On the subject of sharing her life story, Garten said, "By finding a way to do what I love for a living — cooking — I've been fortunate to build a career that has not only been incredibly rewarding but has brought people together through the power of home cooking. I hope my book will inspire readers to find their own unique story" (via Celadon Books). It appears that pre-orders for Garten's memoir aren't yet available, as of the time of writing, but fans should be sure to be keeping their eyes peeled for the first opportunity to claim a copy.

Fans will finally learn about Ina Garten's childhood

Ina Garten has been open about her unexpected start in the food industry. While working at the White House in the management department, she purchased a specialty foods store in the Hamptons on a whim and dove into the culinary world. The store, named Barefoot Contessa, was enormously successful, which led to her writing her first cookbook in 1999 and starring on a beloved television show of the same name. Garten's amazing recipes that she shared on TV earned her national attention and acclaim.

Until 2023, Garten hadn't spoken much about her childhood (outside of the fact that she was, shockingly, not allowed to cook). Her memoir should finally open the storybook, so to speak, about the earliest days of her life. She told the BBC in a December 2023 interview, "I'm actually writing a memoir right now and it's kind of looking back at my childhood [...] a lot of my decisions were based on my childhood. And so I think that was the motivating factor."

Whatever else the cooking maven chooses to disclose will surely have fans hanging on every word. The prospect of learning every detail of her rise from cookbook author to the head of a culinary empire has her supporters eager to read about her fascinating journey.
