Chick-Fil-A Launches First Ever Seasonal Twist On Its Original Chicken Sandwich
Chick-fil-A's signature chicken sandwich has featured the same simple ingredients since 1964 — a breaded, pressure-cooked breast of chicken with two dill pickles on a buttered and toasted bun. Starting August 28, the brand will roll out its market-tested new take on the classic — the Honey Pimento Chicken Sandwich.
The chain has previously experimented with variations on its grilled chicken sandwiches, namely the Smokehouse BBQ Sandwich and the Grilled Spicy Deluxe, but this is the first time it has made a seasonal change to its beloved fried chicken sandwich.
The new sandwich features the traditional breaded breast of chicken topped first with pimento cheese made with sharp cheddar and a blend of red pimento and green chilis. Then, for a kick of heat, there are pickled jalapeños, another first-time offering for Chick-fil-A. Finally, a touch of honey will round out the sandwich for a sweet-meets-heat flavor profile that's absolutely on-trend this year (we're looking at you, hot honey).
What else is new at Chick-fil-A?
With each new season comes a new shake, too. There are plenty of fans of the brand's summery peach milkshake, and last year's Autumn Spice Milkshake channeled the flavors of fall with cinnamon and brown sugar spice cookie bits. With winter comes the holiday-inspired Peppermint Chip Shake, which has been making annual appearances on the menu since 2008.
In conjunction with the launch of the Honey Pimento Chicken Sandwich, Chick-fil-A will also be serving its newest seasonal shake, the Caramel Crumble Milkshake. The sweet drink is made with a base of the restaurant's Icedream (its version of vanilla soft-serve ice cream), butterscotch caramel flavoring, and crumbled blondies. It's also topped with whipped cream and a cherry, as is standard for the brand's shakes. Those who were in the 2021 test market in Salt Lake City, Utah, may recognize the shake by its former name, the Butterscotch Crumble Milkshake.
Chick-fil-A has not announced how long it will be offering either the Honey Pimento Chicken Sandwich or the Caramel Crumble Milkshake — only that it is for a limited time.
