Wendy's menu includes many items you might expect to find at a fast food joint: burgers (although it uniquely offers square patties), fries, chicken nuggets, and salads. But the chain is also a standout in the drive-thru world, as it's one of the few major brands to offer customers items like baked potatoes and bowls of chili, the latter of which are truly comforting after a long day when you want something hearty and filling. Wendy's chili can also be useful on game day as the base for a single-serve nacho dip, and all you have to do is add nacho cheese and sour cream.

The creator of this hack — a former Wendy's employee — simply adds the two extra ingredients and gives it a thorough stir, so it's an incredibly easy upgrade to pull off. Both the nacho cheese and the sour cream will mix easily into the chili, provided it's still hot, or at least warm, from the restaurant, with the cheese adding richness and the sour cream lending a welcome tang. Together, they also create a creamier consistency that makes it perfect for dipping.

If it has cooled, you might want to give it a quick nuke in the microwave (in a different vessel). If it's not quite nacho-y enough for your tastes, you can absolutely sprinkle in some smoky taco seasoning. Or dress it up with some diced jalapeños for heat, and top it with green onions to cut through all the richness.

Top Wendy's sides to pair with your nacho dip

If you head to your local Wendy's to pick up the ingredients for this nacho cheese dip hack, you might run into some confusion when ordering the cheese sauce, as some customers have reportedly had trouble purchasing it because employees couldn't figure out how to ring it up. Fortunately, several Redditors shared that the sauce can be found under Sides, then Cheese Menu, where it's listed as Cheese Sauce. With that information, you should be able to secure the goods (for a small fee), and the cashier will likely think you're a Wendy's whisperer.

Now, while you're ordering, it might occur to you to get something to dunk into your makeshift nacho dip. Fries are the obvious choice, and Wendy's spuds are particularly well-suited to the job, since they're slightly thicker-cut than some of their fast food counterparts, so they can stand up to the chunky chili better. In a pinch, the saltine crackers that come on the side make for a tasty way to scoop up the dip, but you'd be remiss if you didn't also consider the acclaimed spicy nuggets, or Wendy's Tendys, the chain's juicy breaded chicken strips.
