Here's What Bobby Flay Gets At His Own Burger Restaurant

If anyone knows a good burger, it's the grill master himself Bobby Flay. The celebrity chef and restaurateur has had a deep-rooted love for burgers, fries, and shakes since he was a kid, so naturally, one of his many establishments is a good old-fashioned burger joint.

What was originally Bobby's Burger Palace became Bobby's Burgers in 2021, and today the restaurant serves up breakfast sandwiches, burgers, sides, and shakes at several locations across the U.S., from Atlantic City to Las Vegas. Each and every menu item takes a classic to a whole new level at this all-American eatery.

And a menu like that begs the question: What are Bobby's favorites? It turns out the chef has a "perfect order" at his own burger shop, and thanks to Twitter, we know what it is. Flay's one-two-three punch of perfection is the Bacon Crunchburger, the Buttermilk Onion Rings, and a Pistachio Shake.

The chef's perfect trifecta

With creative and decadent burgers on the menu like the Brunch Burger, the Nacho Burger, and the BBQ Smokehouse Burger, choosing a go-to is no easy task at this place. But Bobby Flay has laid claim to his favorite, and the Bacon Crunchburger takes the cake as the main item in his ordering trifecta.

Made with Certified Angus Beef and stacked inside a fluffy brioche bun, Flay's go-to burger includes bacon, American cheese, "Bobby's sauce" (a blend of mayo, roasted red peppers, and chipotle chiles), and the ingredient responsible for the "crunch" in its name: potato chips.

Flay needs something to pair with this stack of flavor, and that's where the Buttermilk Onion Rings come in. Served with either Bobby's Sauce, Ranch, or Honey Mustard Horseradish to dip in, these battered and deep-fried onion rings make for a great partner to a salty, meaty burger. And to wash it all down, the chef chooses a uniquely delicious Pistachio Shake topped with homemade whipped cream and crushed pistachios.

Flay's tips and tricks for building the perfect burger

Thanks to his Food Network crash course called Burger 101, we have some of Bobby Flay's keys to burger-making perfection.

Bobby's go-to for burger meat is 80% beef, 20% fat. When it comes to shaping your patty, Flay says to mold the meat very gently, "until it just holds together." If you overwork it, it'll come out with more of a meatloaf consistency which isn't what you want from a burger. Once you cook, only flip the burger once, and don't press down on it with your spatula — let the grill or griddle do the rest, and it'll stay plump and juicy.

As for toppings, Flay is a big believer in "crunchifying" your burger, which you'll notice on the Bobby's Burger's menu that includes crispy ingredients like potato chips. He even lets us in on the secret way to order a burger at Bobby's Burger, which he calls "Bobby-style" and Flay fans know to ask for: It comes with two slices of American cheese, coleslaw, pickles, and chipotle ketchup.
