Corin Tucker and Peter Buck talk pretzel sandwiches
Corin Tucker and Peter Buck, noted pretzel sandwich hater. The musicians, who play in the side project Filthy Friends, appear in a new Over/Under video on Pitchfork.

He’s best known as the guitarist for legendary band R.E.M., but it turns out that Peter Buck could have an alternative career as a food critic. In the latest episode of the Pitchfork series Over/Under, which gives guests 8 or so topics and asks whether they’re overrated or underrated, Buck becomes vitriolic while talking about pretzel sandwiches. “I don’t like pretzels in any consistency,” he says, seated alongside Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker (his bandmate in Filthy Friends). “And that whole thing where they give you a sandwich and it’s on a pretzel? It’s like… funk metal. Don’t put those things together, ever.” Pacific Northwesterners Buck and Tucker also riff on Portland’s dining scene, Cheez Whiz and more. Watch it below.
