Think Size Doesn't Matter? Don't Tell Cheerful Vegetable Grower Phillip Vowles.

Want to see what it looks like for someone to have nothing but pure, unadulterated love for what they do? Look no further than Welshman Phillip Vowles, who spends each and every day growing giant vegetables. The gardener has been growing plus-size vegetables for the last three decades. He even set the Guinness Book of World Records mark for the world's heaviest cucumber some 25 years ago. Why does he bother with all this, you might ask? Well, he comes from a very large family, and as he puts it, "big vegetables feed big families." That really does seem pretty self-explanatory.

In just over two minutes, Vowles shows our friends at Great Big Story the enormous seeds that sprout the monstrous, organic legumes, the tender love and care (including talking) that goes into raising them and how he's supporting the local community through his efforts. Perhaps most humorous of all are Vowles's anecdotes about his wife and her thoughts about his growing — see what we did there — business. What a character. Cheers, Phillip, and may we all continue to display such passion for our work!
