Tantalizing Adult Swim Intro Says "Food Porn" And Means It
We all know someone who says, hashtags or otherwise presents "food porn" but doesn't even mean it a little. (See also: nailed it). Then there's Alex Kwan, an animator for Titmouse Inc., home of Cartoon Network Adult Swim stars Metalocalypse and Venture Brothers. Watch her interpretation of this frequently disingenuous term, inspired by a recent food- and anime-centric trip to Japan, that is all at once sexy, poetic, badass and utterly delicious [also slightly NSFW]. Mermaid tempura, all the way, please. Also, from now on, all pasties shall be made from sliced fish cakes.
"I'd have to say eating real ramen for the first time was a pretty pinnacle moment of my adolescence. I never thought the broth could be so thick and silky," says Kwan, reminiscing about what made her first love drawing food, in a quick interview via instant message. "Drawing it is like a temporary respite until I can actually go and eat it. I think looking up pictures of ramen is cruel sometimes."
Fun if slightly less tantalizing fact: Kwan is also creating an animated short about a family of absurdly cute anthropomorphic shallots and their vegetable friends and adversaries.
