David Kinch's Manresa Receives Top Michelin Honor

The 2016 Michelin Guide for the San Francisco Bay Area was released yesterday, and among the top honorees is chef David Kinch's Manresa in Los Gatos, California. The restaurant received an additional star this year, totaling three — the influential dining guide's highest rating. On Twitter, Kinch credited his team at Manresa for the upgrade.

While Kinch's restaurant generally benefits from widespread acclaim, it has experienced some ups and downs with regard to ratings: In 2012, Manresa was featured on the World's 50 Best Restaurant list but dropped two spots off the list the following year. (It's currently ranked at No. 100.) In an interview with Food Republic, Kinch kept an air of modesty about the situation.

"We certainly don't lose sleep over it, though, and we don't make any kind of effort. The game — we don't know how to play it — and I don't know if we have the time or wherewithal to play the game, even if we knew how," he said.

Kinch will be featured in the award-winning PBS show Mind of a Chef, produced by Food Republic's parent company, Zero Point Zero Production. Check out the trailer below.
