A Guy Is Shotgunning A Beer Every Day For A Year, And Winning Instagram

A quick spin around the Internet turns up that Aaron Semmel is a Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based TV producer with credits that include working on Gene Simmons: Family Jewels and a reality show starring Sinbad. These are certainly worthy accomplishments on their own, but it's Semmel's Instagram account that makes us stop and simply bow down. You see, Aaron Semmel is posting a daily photo of himself shotgunning a beer. Note: for the uninitiated, shotgunning is the act — some would call "art" — of plunging a blunt object like a pen or knife into an un-opened can of beer, causing the can's contents to flow rapidly into one's mouth.

Semmel's story was first reported in a profile on drinks website Punch, which also offers a history lesson on beer shotgunning — the technique apparently dates back to 1958. The story is totally worth a read (Kevin Costner makes a cameo). You can follow along here: @ShotgunABeerEveryday.
