Chrissy Teigen Overcomes Fear Of 'Weird Textures,' Tries Oyster Omelet In Bangkok

Chrissy Teigen is something of a Thai food aficionado, as we found out in our recent interview with the 2014 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover model. She comes by this naturally; after all, her mother is Thai. Teigen prefers her papaya salad a particular way (chopped with a big butcher knife, the way her mom makes it). And, she has a special affinity for boat noodles — that is, the kind of rich Thai noodle soups (often thickened with beef blood) that were once served from boats; hence the name. She's partial to the brand served up at Pa Ord in L.A. ("I haven't found a great boat noodle place in New York," she says glumly.)
On tonight's episode of The Getaway, airing at 9 p.m. EST, on Esquire Network, Teigen travels to Bangkok, where she also tries a few Thai specialties that she's not so accustomed to — including a dubious-sounding oyster omelet. "That oyster omelet was really scary to me because I'm weird on textures," Teigen tells Food Republic. "Like, I will eat anything. I take pride in that. I love eggy egg. But, biting into a slimy oyster?" It actually tastes better than it sounds. Here's a clip:
