Video: Going Shopping Around Chinatown With Joe Isidori
Joe Isidori certainly knows how to shop. The third-generation chef – awarded a Michelin Star in 2008 – has always preached sustainability in a culinary career that has included stops at Miami's Nemo, DJT in Las Vegas and Southfork Kitchen in Bridgehampton, New York. He recently opened Chalk Point Kitchen in SoHo, serving greenmarket-driven fare with a variety of Asian influences, in a space that resembles a country cottage.
Located mere steps from the new restaurant are specialty markets featuring fresh seafood and meats. It is here that the chef finds inspiration for his ever-changing menu, which includes scallops, mussels, uni and squid. Take a look at the video below, in which a (very informative) Joe makes his way around Chinatown and Little Italy in search of the neighborhood's freshest produce.
