'Real World' Meets 'Chopped'? Here's The Trailer For MTV's 'House Of Food'
MTV didn't necessarily invent reality TV programming. But MTV sure did invent the throw a dozen people into a house stocked with Cuervo fountains and ill-fitting bikini tops brand of reality TV programming. So it was only a matter of time before MTV brought their successful formula (we'll call it a recipe) to the food world. As it turns out, food-crazed Millennials seek food-related programming (and possibly some bodaciously blowtorched popcorn!). Only time will tell if this soufflé of a prime time television show will rise to Real World heights, or shrivel up like 8th & Ocean. Here's a press release and trailer for House of Food, which debuts on March 31 at 10 p.m. EST/PST:
MTV's House of Food is a drama-infused take on food TV where a group of young aspiring chefs with no formal culinary training are put to the ultimate challenge. The one hour weekly docu-series combines the exciting real-life competitive elements of culinary school, with the dramatic setting of a house reality show. The students have been chosen for their passion for cooking and food culture, and their backgrounds are as varied as their personalities. With three of the country's best chefs as their teachers and the city of Los Angeles as their classroom, this determined group will live and learn together but only one will win an apprenticeship of a lifetime.
