Ready For Spring? Watch This Time-Lapse Video Of Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farm
Well, it's warmer, at least, which is cause for us in the Northeast to start daydreaming of sprouting plants and fresh lettuces and such. Then we spotted this time-lapse video of the making of Brooklyn Grange, the mammoth, 65,000-square-foot rooftop urban farm in NYC, on the environmental site the9billion.com, and we thought it'd be an appropriate time to share. Watch as a dreary Queens rooftop comes to life and hangs on through the seasons — even in winter. The produce from this farm makes its way to local markets, reducing the carbon footprint, as well as providing hope that we can continue to feed our growing population through such urban farming initiatives. It also gives us here at Food Republic hope that we'll see a real ripe tomato again soon. Check it out:
