Video: Andrew Zimmern's Big Revealing Night Out In New York City

We all know Andrew Zimmern from his Travel Channel shows Bizarre Foods and Bizarre Foods America, where he travels the globe in search of the world's most interesting and exotic foodstuffs. But in this clip from the Vice Munchies series, we see a different side of one of our favorite culinary personalities as he takes us back to his colorful New York City past with chefs Marc Forgione and Jonathan Waxman. In the episode he prepares a "Chinese grandmother meal," with plenty of revealing personal anecdotes along the way.

Zimmern, who lived and worked in New York City during the 70s and 80s, talks candidly about being canned at various points in his lengthy career, complete with a story about how he once passed out in a restaurant's liquor cabinet. Andrew, much respect for revealing some of your darkest moments, including a "half-day" employment at legendary NYC restaurant, An American Place.
