Billy Corgan Is Mad At California Pizza Kitchen
Many have been critical of Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan for his egomaniacal tantrums, crypt-keeper sartorial choices and for breaking up one of the most prolific alternative-rock bands of all time. Those critics may be correct, but they should also know that Billy Corgan really cares about animals.
This morning, the moody frontman wrote an open letter to California Pizza Kitchen CEO G.J. Hart, urging the company to work with their cheese suppliers to start phasing out a practice known as "de-horning" — a painful process in which calves have their horns gouged out, or have sensitive horn tissue burned out of their heads. Corgan writes:
"I have viewed the photos [NSFW] and watched PETA's investigative video [NSFW] of these procedures, and I was appalled to see young calves who struggled and writhed in pain as searing hot irons burned their heads. strongly urge you to take immediate action to stop this unspeakable barbarism by requiring your suppliers to phase out dehorning."
