Chicago Named The Best Pizza City In America
[Deep breath.] For good or for bad, Best Of lists are the reality of the food media world we live in. They just don't stop appearing. We read them, we sometimes debate them, and then we move onto the next list. The world goes on. We are not here to indict the Best Of list. We are here to point out that luxury glossy magazine Travel & Leisure just dropped a Best Of list that names Chicago the best pizza city in the United States.
It's a bold choice, but one we aren't completely shaking our fists at. Though, being based in New York City and having made trips to Totonno's, Lucali, L&B Spumoni Gardens, Patsy's, Sam's Chops, Roberta's, Di Fara, Motorino, Paulie Gee's, Co. and Lombardi's (the first pizzeria in America), we might just say that third place seems a little, well, low. Providence, RI is number two, which we'll leave at that.
Here is the top 10 (complete list here)
1. Chicago
2. Providence, RI
3. New York City
4. Philadelphia
5. Boston
6. Minneapolis/St. Paul
7. San Diego
8. Savannah, GA
9. Nashville
10. Kansas City, MO
On a related note, here are bunch of pizza movie scenes threaded together.
