Sorry folks, but an Instagram account and unbridled enthusiasm for taking tableside snapshots of lamb carpaccio doesn’t make you a pro food photographer. Any expert in this field will tell you it takes training and practice — not to mention the right equipment and a stylist’s touch to create truly memorable (even crave-worthy) shots of the things we eat.

We sat down with NYC-based photographer Morgan Ione Yeager for some straight talk on working in this rapidly-expanding industry. Yeager’s photos have appeared in Boston Magazine, Edible Manhattan, Food Network magazine and Tasting Table.
