No Ordinary Lobsters For National Lobster Day

Summer is on a roll! And you know what that means: lobsters galore! To celebrate the beginning of summer, and National Lobster Day, Friday, June 15, Food Republic is bringing you, drumroll please, the best in lobster "design!"

First up, check out these colorful lobsters that make their bright orange counterparts pale in comparison.

No, this lobster is not photoshopped! Canadian fisherman Bobby Stoddard stumbled upon this electric blue lobster for the first time in his 30-year career last month in Nova Scotia, Canada. According to the University of Maine Lobster Institute, blue lobsters occur in one of every two million lobsters due to a genetic defect.

This two-toned lobster was also found off the coast of Nova Scotia. The green and red hues are perfectly symmetrical.

This calico lobster became an overnight celebrity when it was saved from a boiling pot by a chef at Jasper White's Summer Shack in Maine. The lobster now resides in a tank and is named Calvin.

This white lobster is both the rarest and the fairest of them all. The white lobster holds the title for the world's rarest lobster.
