LA: The Art Of Cooking

At Food Republic, we know that gastronomy intersects with all aspects of culture, and the current show at Royal/T gallery in LA is just another example. The group exhibit — entitled The Art of Cooking — was curated by Hanne Mugaas, whose entire family is involved in the restaurant industry. Mugaas is not alone in her love of food and art. She tells Cool Hunting that many artists she came across had at least one piece of work that was food-related. For the show, she picked work from 48 contemporary artists including the group White Zinfandel, Viktor Kopp and Marilyn Minter.

The artists represent food in various media including sculpture, drawing, digital prints and performance art. On Royal/T's website Mugaas says, "This exhibition is meant to celebrate food – no matter if it is a gourmet meal, a donut or a slice of toast with marmalade."
