Word Of The Day: Spelt
Spelt, a type of wheat, has made its recent comeback for several good reasons. First, it's more nutritious than its widely cultivated counterpart, containing more protein and vitamins. It requires less fertilizer to grow. And, for relatively mysterious reasons, people with gluten allergies can often tolerate it.
Other fun spelt facts: Poland makes its vodka from spelt rather than wheat, the first Passover matzoh was allegedly made from spelt and if your Polish family gets together for Passover you should definitely partake of both.
