Next time you shell out a couple extra bucks for that organic cereal, consider whether you have fallen victim to greenwashing, the deceptive marketing that promotes the notion that a company is environmentally friendly when truly it is not. The hype behind society eating all things organic and sustainable has companies jumping on the green bandwagon by the thousands. So much so that Earth Day Resources for Living Green, an environmental watch-dog group, issues an annual report called “Don’t Be Fooled.” The report points out the year’s worst greenwashers, ten companies that have made the most deceptive claims about the environmental benefits of their products.
