Word Of The Day: Gherkin
Like cucumbers, gherkins are fruits that belongs to the Cucumis sativus species. They usually range from one to three inches in size, and are pickled in a sweet brine or vinegar, but we prefer whiskey. The word gherkin is derived from the Dutch word gurkiin. Francophiles know this teeny-tiny tangy treat as a cornichon, but theirs are particularly tart.
Why not whip up your own with this easy recipe? Just swap out the cucumbers for gherkins and you're ready to go.
