DJ Tatiana Fontes' Best Man-Cooked Meal
It's DJ Week at Food Republic, which means we are talking to some of our favorite clubland characters — but more about Serrano than Serato. And boy are they happy to tell us about their food adventures. It makes us jealous. DJ's live the life, and they eat very, very well.
...oh sorry, got distracted by the supermodel in pink headphones for a second. Yes, DJ Tatiana Fontes is humanity's first supermodel/actress to become an internationally acclaimed, super-booked DJ. Born and raised in Florianopolis, Brazil with a nightclub owning-father and DJ siblings, Fontes followed suit by modeling, acting and spinning to great success. She can usually be found cruising around Los Angeles with a posse of...well, more supermodels.
Headlining cross-country at powerhouses Skybar, Marquee Las Vegas, Boom Boom Room, Sutra and plenty more, Fontes commands the crowd with so much more than just a pretty face. Plus, she cooks.
What's the best meal a man has ever cooked for you?
I'm sad to say that not many men have cooked for me. I'm usually the one doing the cooking. My ex-husband used to make really good ground beef tacos — nothing too fancy, but they were really great.
Does your man need to have culinary skills?
Not really, because I'm a great cook and I love cooking. I like to eat very healthy, so if he doesn't cook the way I do I'd rather just make it myself. Yeah, I'm a bit of a control freak.
What's your perfect night look like?
When I'm not on the road, which is rare, I love to stay home and have my friends over for dinner — enjoy some good wine, catch up and laugh a lot. When you have a crazy lifestyle like mine, those moments are luxury.
Any celebrity chef crushes we should know about?
I don't know if it's a crush, but Chef Rocco DiSpirito is pretty cute!
