Calzone, A Perfectly Portable Lunch

If pizza and toppings had a baby that was raised by a wrap sandwich, you'd end up with a calzone. A popular street food in Italy because it's portable (and usually a size or two smaller than the whoppers peddled Stateside), calzones typically house a combination of meat and cheese and veggies, and are an excellent alternative if you crave crust, sauce, and cheese but can't look at yet another slice of pizza.

Making your own isn't hard at all. If you have pizza dough and aren't afraid to use it, you can showcase any number of things you already had in the fridge. Simply roll out your dough, fill one side with whatever strikes your fancy, cover said whatever with cheese, fold the dough over to form a crescent and bake at 375 degrees until golden brown. Serve covered with marinara sauce or on the side for dipping and you've got a lunch to be envied.
