Man Up Your Daily Nutritional Routine

Everybody and their sister (including mine) has an opinion about what it means to be a man. You have to keep your mother happy, make your father proud, keep your girlfriend satisfied, and put a roof over your wife's head. Don't forget you gotta bring home the (tempeh) bacon, never be weak in front of anyone, keep your boss happy while being your own man, teach your son how to be a man, try to keep your daughter off the pole (unless it's part of a cardio-yoga-stripper-lates class at her gym), and so on.

The point is that this is pretty tiring — another thing we are not supposed to admit. Some say this exhaustion has spawned an odd man-boy culture including high tops, skateboards, and funny mustaches. All have become the hallmarks of a generation wary of the responsibility. We are not only charged with the former, but also with trying to save the planet on which we live on from the the acts of our fathers.

So what's a fella to do? "Man up" your daily nutritional routine, brotha!

  • Cranberry juice for a healthier prostate. The kind without all the sugar is best.
  • Replace one meal a day with a fresh juice for better skin and a balanced digestive tract. I like a good green juice in the AM.
  • Potassium! Eat your bananas and help regulate your heartbeat as well as reduce your risk of stroke.
  • Get those omega-3s on your plate. Flaxseed, walnuts, soy, and canola oil are all good.
  • Stock up on some quinoa! It contains good amounts of lutein that increases prostate health.

This is just the beginning, but you get the point. Being a man sometimes means getting healthy.
