A news and variety writer since 2018, Jakob has written over 700 articles on culture, food, history, entertainment, and local news. In college, he served as editor-in-chief of The La Salle Collegian newspaper while also writing editorial content for the Saturday Evening Post, Dictionary.com, LoveToKnow Media, and various other human interest publications. In 2022, Jakob published an independent portfolio titled Finding Philadelphia 2022, which is all about the city's history, culture, and cuisine. In addition to writing for Food Republic, Jakob works in food service and co-hosts an entertainment podcast. In his spare time, Jakob is a home chef who loves to cook new and unique recipes that blend staple ingredients from various cultures as well as explore the restaurant scene of his home city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.


Jakob has a bachelor's in journalism and master's in strategic communication, both from La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
