Buy Dad A Drink, Help An Orphan: This Week In Food Activism

Offering a lending hand to those in need is the theme this week. Jamie Oliver volunteered one of his London restaurants to the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire in London earlier this week, offering shelter, food and drink to anyone affected by the tragedy. A Cincinnati brewery created a beer for a baby hippo in need. And you can also do your part for Father's Day by buying Dad a drink and giving back. Here are the details:

  • On Wednesday, TV chef Jamie Oliver offered victims of the Grenfell Tower fire in London free food and drink at Jamie's Italian around the corner from the site.
  • Listermann Brewing Company in Cincinnati, Ohio created an IPA called Team Fiona in honor of the premature baby hippopotamus born at the city's zoo. A quarter of the proceeds of Team Fiona sales will go to benefit the zoo.
  • Father's Day is this Sunday and Tito's Vodka is partnering with The Miracle Foundation to give to kids without dads. The vodka brand wants you to buy Pops a "virtual" drink, which means making a donation in his name to the Miracle Foundation. Tito's will match all donations up to $100,000. The Miracle Foundation provides orphans in the developing world with clean water, food, schooling up to college, clothing medical care and more.
