Brooklyn Restaurant Take Root Is Donating $10 Per Check To Planned Parenthood This Week
Like many other restaurateurs and chefs, Elise Kornack and Anna Hieronimus of Brooklyn's Take Root have been vocal on social media about their concern over the election of Donald Trump in last week's presidential race. Now, they're putting their money where their mouth is. The restaurant, which charges $125 for chef Kornack's highly acclaimed tasting menu, just announced on Instagram that it will donate $10 from each diner's check to Planned Parenthood this week. Next week, a new recipient will be announced. "Many small efforts can equal bigger change" read the text on the announcement.
The duo's intimate dining room continues to enthrall critics and diners alike. This week's edition of The New Yorker features yet another rave, noting that the living room–like space "is not your private dinner party, but it almost is." Kornack was also profiled last year in our New Chefs Rising series. Reservations at the 12-seat restaurant on Brooklyn's Sackett Street are still tough to get but are available via Take Root's website.
