CrescentRating, the world’s leading authority on halal travel, released the world’s first halal travel glossary this week.
The glossary covers way more than just the menu options at your favorite New York City halal food cart. It contains over 150 terms about the “core values” of halal travel, cuisine and Muslim faith and is available for free in e-book form. The glossary’s first edition is available in English, and there are plans to eventually translate it to other languages.
In an email interview with Food Republic, CrescentRating CEO Fazal Bahardeen wrote that he believes the Muslim travel market is on the rise and that the glossary will help businesses looking to attract Muslim customers.
“With the Muslim demographic showing signs of an increased propensity to eat out and travel, a resource such as the glossary will help more providers to cater to this growing market,” Bahardeen says.
The glossary touches on everything from halal food and religious practices to clothing and bathroom etiquette. Not only will this glossary be helpful to businesses trying to attract Muslim travelers, but it will also open doors for those traveling in Muslim countries.
