Serena Williams Takes A Coffee Break During A Match In Australia
Apparently, in professional tennis at least, a bagel should always be followed by a cup of coffee. After losing her first set 6-0 during a match at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia, a sluggish and clearly jet-lagged Serena Williams did something not seen in the sport — she called the trainer for a shot of espresso. After consulting with the chuckling chair umpire, Williams was granted her request and a ball girl soon appeared with a paper cup filled with a caffeinated liquid. Was it an espresso? That's hard to say? Was it a flat white? Perhaps. But this episode is a reminder about the superior coffee in Australia. Here's a clip of the coffee break below — Williams would go on to beat Flavia Pennetta 0-6, 6-3, 6-0. (Also see 3 ways coffee is made the Australian way.)
