Ibérico, That Mezcal Made With Fancy Spanish Ham, Is A Spirited Awards Finalist

We first told you about Ibérico, a new high-end small-batch jamón-infused mezcal, back in January. The limited-edition 98-proof Oaxacan hooch, a collaboration between importer Ron Cooper's Del Maguey label and celebrity chef José Andrés' ThinkFood Group, debuted in select locations this past spring. Now comes word that the fine swine-laden liquor has been named one of four finalists for "Best New Product" at the upcoming Spirited Awards, which take place on July 19 during the annual booze industry bacchanal "Tales of the Cocktail" in New Orleans. Other nominees in the category include Martini & Rossi's Gran Lusso Vermouth, Ancho Reyes chile liqueur and Jason Crawley's Imperial Shaker Machine. (Get the full run down on all the nominees in every other category here.) Congrats to all the finalists, and may the most intoxicating innovation win!
