As Andrew Carmellini puts it, the goal was simple when he took over the food and drink duties at legendary downtown performance spaces Joe’s Pub and The Library at The Public in the spring of 2012. “It’s what we do best, make sure everybody in the house has something nice to eat and something good to drink.”

He’s so far delivered on that promise with a menu that tells the delicious story of American food in three acts: from shrimp tacos and smoked cauliflower cassoulet to rigatoni with sweet sausage. And to pair with all that great grub, you ask? A really good soundtrack that pulls from some of Joe Pub’s regular acts. We like the shift from Sharon Jones and A Tribe Called Quest to Blood Orange and Ratatat.
