If Ernest Hemingway Had Been A Cupcake Man, This Would Be The Cupcake For Him
We all know that Ernest Hemingway loved to drink. Inspired by the American author's creation of Death in the Afternoon, a cocktail with Champagne and Absinthe, NYC's Prohibition Bakery is selling a limited edition cupcake. The boozy baked good features champagne cake with champagne filling, absinthe frosting and a champagne cube on top with a touch of lemon. The only thing missing from this combianation is a champagne room. Anyways...in honor of its one-year anniversary this Wednesday, the bakery is offering the cupcake – fittingly named "Death in the Afternoon" – for sale through the end of the week.
Located on the Lower East Side, Prohibition Bakery is already home to several alcohol-infused cupcakes, including a take on Pimm's Cup and a Pretzels & Beer flavor, which contains pale ale, Nutella, pretzel and – get this – white truffle. Cupcakes are $2 each, three for $5 and a dozen for $20. Not bad for getting your day's fill of both sugar and booze in just a couple of bites.
