Prediction: Food Republic Team Will Win ADICUP Soccer Tournament!

Tomorrow brings the annual adiCup to the Chelsea Piers soccer complex in NYC, and this year, the competition is getting a jolt. That's because Blatte United FC, a team featuring Food Republic co-founder Marcus Samuelsson and some of our food– and drink-obsessed contributors, will be bringing their A-game to the pitch for the adidas-backed soccer fest. Yes, that's the same Blatte United that won the 2007 adiCup (see the groovy video below). Will this band of rogue Swedes win it all? We think so.

The Food Republic-Blatte FR roster features Selim "Ben Barek" Adira, Mahir "Der Kaiser" Hossein, Marcus "Yes, Chef" Samuelsson, Sebastian "Lambada" Alvarado, Carl "Anders Tacos Svensson" Rydin and Oskar "Oliver Kahn" Havas.

If you're in NYC, come out Saturday between 1-8 p.m. and cheer them on as they compete against other media–, fashion– and restaurant-backed teams. There'll be barbecue and tunes by the excellent DJ Neil Armstrong too (See the flyer above for details).
