Rodney Scott is a living barbecue legend as the man (the only man really) behind Scott’s Bar-B-Que in Hemingway, South Carolina. (We profiled him earlier this year when he went to Uruguay for a meaty exchange program).
This weekend he will be among the 20 pitmasters making the journey to New York City for the annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party. Scott has attended the event for several years running, but this will be his first year he cooks on his own. On the menu: 10 hogs on Saturday and 10 on Sunday.
