"Puzzle" Wine Tray

For Newton Vineyard's latest limited-edition "Eco-Chic" project, launching in mid-April, the Napa Valley winery turned to Chicago designers Stephanie and Bruce Tharp of Materious to conjure up a wine-inspired tabletop. The duo crafted only 100 of these striking, rectangular "Puzzle" wine trays ($499), made of Forest Stewardship Council certified walnut wood, and marked by asymmetrical cross-hatching.

Lift a beveled puzzle piece, or "vineyard block" if you want to get metaphorical, and it becomes a coaster evocative of the slopes. Stash a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and a bowl of olives in the recessed areas of the tray and plop yourself in front of the TV. A Newton corkscrew that nods to the winery's eco-friendly Chardonnay cellar built into Spring Mountain can be found conveniently nestling in the tray's "hidden cave" to boot.
