It's not Chinese New Year, but I need the luck

You know how sometimes you really need a boost of luck and you cross your fingers? Yeah, if I keep mine crossed any longer, they're going to fall off and I'll lose two very important typing appendages. So I'm going to improvise a little hipster witchcraft and combine a Chinese New Year tradition with the need for a little kismet as we approach 2013, and scarf noodles until something good happens. Here are my options.

Soba isn't mass-manufactured in dehydrated cakes and sold for 50 cents a pack. It's also not pigeonholed into hot noodle soup. No, soba is an truly an art form, carefully crafted by hand and eaten hot or cold, in soup or straight-up with nothing more than a dip in soy and rice vinegar. Plus, the last time I checked, ramen was still waiting at the door to the sandwich club.
