Just in case your microwaves craps out or you run out of the greasy bagged stuff, it's important to know how to pop popcorn on the stove. Otherwise you'll just be sitting there on the couch staring down at your lap with absolutely no purpose whatsoever. Forget buckets of soda and popcorn coated with curiously calorific butter substitute. Dinner theater gets reimagined at these locations coast-to-coast.

This gelato is so unique that I actually served it as a side dish for a hamburger at the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s famous Burger Bash. My popcorn ice cream sandwich was the belle of the Burger Ball. Oh, and the popcorn must be freshly made – don’t even think about store-bought or the microwave variety. Sure, it might be faster, but the gelato will taste terrible!

A number of years back, I went through this Hawaiian Hurricane popcorn faze where I must have consumed this concoction of buttery popcorn with Japanese furikake (a Japanese seasoning) and rice crackers on a daily basis for weeks on end.

Wok

It has occurred to me, more than once, that I may be slowly killing my family. When I make dinner with our wok, which happens about once a week, I can’t help thinking that there’s something very wrong with the metallic odor it releases, the clouds of smoke it emits when I leave it on the flame for too long, or the flecks of black residue that sometimes come off of its surface. Is this thing poisoning us, or what?
