Look, we like to be ahead of the curve — which is hopefully why you come back to Food Republic again and again, to see what's new in the world of food and drink. But when we launched our inaugural Craft Beer & Spirits Week last year, even we didn't foresee just how much this scene would blow up.

Craft beer production is up 18% in the past year, according to the Brewers Association's latest numbers, and every week, we hear about a new craft spirits producer exploring the new frontiers of bourbon and gin making. Just as it's infinitely easier to eat locally these days, it's now equally as plausible to drink locally.

This week, we'll feature the brands you should know, the people who are making the biggest moves, the bars and lounges that are serving up the good stuff from San Francisco to Philly. Should you care for some drinks-friendly snacks to go with your craft beer and spirits, we'll have daily recipes for tasty dishes, many with pairing suggestions.

Want to get a sample of what's to come? Check out some of the highlights from last year, and check back later today for our updated list of the most important craft spirits producers to know right now — up to 32 from the 17 we listed in 2013.
