Video: Watch This Short Film About Farms Near Austin, Texas

It's one of the most important topics in America today, but one that isn't discussed all that much: What will happen to the family farm?

A new mini-documentary by Jo Ann Santangelo, with support from The Sustainable Food Center, Within 100 Miles (of Austin, Texas) looks at four family farms, as well as the bigger issue of how Americans will get access to naturally grown, organic food if corporations take over our agriculture.

Far from a preachy diatribe, Santangelo's film is an even-tempoed 20-minute check-in with real people talking about what they do. They raise chickens, grow vegetables and sell their products at farmers markets in Austin, Texas. A noble profession, but one that is increasingly endangered by policy, indifference, misunderstanding. When you have a bit of time, check this out:
