Help Pitmaster Rodney Scott Rebuild Through The Power Of Pork Sandwiches

Rodney Scott's pit house burned down in a tragic accident this past November.

It's really a no-brainer. Who wouldn't want to sample some of the country's most legendary barbecue while contributing to a worthy cause? Pitmaster Rodney Scott of the famed Scott's Bar-B-Que in Hemingway, South Carolina lost his pit house just before Thanksgiving — when it burned to the ground in a tragic accident. In an effort to help rebuild the iconic joint, Scott's fellow members of the Fatback Collective have established a fund to raise money for the construction process.

The Fatback Collective — a group of chefs, restaurateurs, thinkers and entrepreneurs from around the country dedicated to preserving the usage of heritage breed animals — recently established the Fatback Fund. Individuals can help in the quest to rebuild by purchasing the naming rights to one of the 14 pits at Scott's ($5,000 each). Also, a Rodney in Exile Tour will take place through the end of this month and into February. Scott will tour several of the South's most well-known barbecue spots, serving up his legendary whole hog sandwiches in an effort to raise funds. Additionally, John Currence will host an array of "pop-up" dinners at his City Grocery restaurant in Oxford, Mississippi, to support the cause.

Take a look at the full schedule of fundraising stops below, and be sure to visit the Collective Fatback's website for more information.
