Couture Biscuits: Cookies Dressed Up With Men's Suiting Patterns

For the true aesthete, these sharp-looking baking stamps in classic houndstooth and herringbone patterns will give cookies, biscuits, shortbread and even crackers, the look of a fancy dress suit.

Created by Loukas Angelou and Vasso Asfi of the London-based design firm Studiolav, the wooden set will speak to your inner (or hey, even your outward) style snob on various levels. Carved from beautiful olive wood, the triangular, geometric shape of the stamps make an artful addition to any modern man's kitchen — they're kinda too good-looking to keep buried away in a utensil drawer — while their iconic patterns inject a dose of wit and style to your baked goods. Houndstooth shortbread, anyone?

The stamps were developed for Skoufa Gallery in Athens, and according to the designers, will soon be available through the gallery's e-shop for 95 euros.

The triangular shape and undulating grain of the olive wood lend an artful, sculptural feel to the sharp-looking baking tools.

For the presentation of his Fall 2013 collection, designer Haizhen Wang commissioned Studiolav to produce 200 individually wrapped biscuits — meant to resemble fabric swatches — in the two patterns.

You are what you eat. Show attendees got their hands on some of these sharp-looking biscuits at London's Fashion Week.

The iconic menswear patterns definitely lend a dapper, gentlemanly look to cookies, biscuits — whatever you're baking up.   

 

For those looking to make their own sartorial-inspired cookies, the wooden set will soon be available for purchase.
