Ok guys, Food Republic is all about promoting culinary adventures. You can find a number of them in our vast and wide-ranging recipes database. How about some D.I.Y. cranberry mustard or Singaporean chicken-rice wings? But when it comes to the Thanksgiving turkey, I lean more towards the purist side. Brine the baby. Place in oven, whole. Carve and serve. This is why it troubles me to watch this video of a guy, from my hometown, explaining how to grill a turkey in under 75 minutes.

You can do whatever you want the other 364 days of the year. Hell, buy a 16-pound heritage bird for the 4th of July. Next Memorial Day, pair it with a pitcher of sangria. But to butterfly a whole turkey, which after cracking the backbone and removing the keel bone borders on mutilation, does not seem OK to me. What do you think? Let us know on Twitter.
