Still Lifes With Meat

The painter and sculptor Carrie Mae Smith is the daughter of a New England butcher, so it's not surprising that the beauty of raw meat inspires her. Her culinary obsession stretches back to her childhood; she has admitted to dressing as Julia Child for Halloween in the third grade. Smith's paintings and sculpture are on display at the San Francisco kitchen and design shop March through May. The show features her oil on canvas works, as well as mixed-media smoked meat sculptures. More info below the images.
