The Casablanca Cocktail

A rum-based Old-Fashioned with a blood orange twist

In 1950, Humphrey Bogart — the celebrated American actor who starred in the Oscar-winning movie Casablanca, which is my all-time favorite film — said, "The whole world is three drinks behind." Although Bogart's drink of choice was Scotch, I can envision him liking my Casablanca Cocktail if he were living in today’s cocktail culture.

This variation of the classic Old-Fashioned swaps in a spicy, aged rum for the standard whiskey, making it so easy to drink that it would be pretty hard not to catch up to Bogart's, or anyone's, three-drink head start. Bottoms up!
