Also known as wine connoisseurs or aficionados, oenophiles are lovers of wine. Traditionally, oenophiles — pronounced "ee-no-files" — were described as people devoted to strict rules of wine consumption knowledge. But nowadays it is common to describe anyone who generally enjoys and appreciates wine as an oenophile. While most oenophiles are hobbyists, some choose to become professionals and find work as sommeliers.vintners or, um, wine critics.
